Lyrics
[Intro] Cold horn over black ice, wind like a blade through bone. A lone fiddle weeps in D minor, and I taste iron in the dawn. [Verse 1] Frost climbs the edges of my vision, antlers of white on the ridge. My breath is a funeral banner, frayed where the night won’t give. I carry the weight of quiet helmets, names carved into my ribs. Bootprints fill with starlight; the sky hangs heavy as a shield. Ash of old pyres in the snowfall, sparks that forgot their wings— they land on my knuckles, and burn like remembered kings. [Pre-Chorus] I hear them in the cut of the wind—old tongues on a northern drum. They call me home by the scar in my voice, and the miles left in my lungs. I raise my arm to the teeth of the cold, feel bone answer bone: if this is the last of my marching, let it be toward the fire I’ve owned. [Chorus] I will walk the ice to the fire, through the howl and the iron sky; I will set my shield to the breaking light, let the storm read my lines. If the mountain swallows my footsteps, my thunder will still arrive. Say my name to the timbers—watch the funeral stars ignite. War-Choir (underneath, low and relentless): We are the echoes of Valhalla. Lead (over them, roaring): I’m not gone—I rise in the cry. War-Choir: We are the echoes of Valhalla. Lead: I am the drum in the dawn when the dead ride by. [Verse 2] Snow collects in the script of my scars, each letter a blade I bore. I drink the cold like medicine; it cauterizes what war tore. I speak to the helms in the drift—brothers asleep in the stone. Your ash is the ink in my blood; your fires have tempered my bones. Ravens write circles above me, black runes against the day, and every turn of their wings is a vow I refuse to betray. [Pre-Chorus 2] Let the taiko heart awaken, let the earth remember our tread. If I fall, I fall forward—into thunder made of names of the dead. I lift my shield to the horizon, where frost and ember agree: the road is a blade and I’m running it clean, till the blaze takes me. [Chorus] I will walk the ice to the fire, till the frost learns how to sing. I will carve my oath in the mountain’s throat, let the bronze sky ring. If my blood writes red in the white, let the letters never fade. Lay my spear to the funeral stars; I have debts that I have paid. War-Choir (beneath): We are the echoes of Valhalla. Lead: I’m not gone—I rise in the cry. War-Choir: We are the echoes of Valhalla. Lead: I am the drum in the dawn when the dead ride by. [Build] Instrumental build: taiko rolls and distant stomps gather; violin trembles on a high thread while low brass breathes; chants rise like a fire under snow. War-Choir (rhythmic, beneath the tightening strings): We are the echoes—Val-hal-la. Hey! We are the echoes—Val-hal-la. Hey! [Drop] Instrumental Drop: Solo violin explodes into a Nordic battle melody over growling dubstep bass and halftime war drums; electric guitar snarls in unison while low male chants bang the hook. War-Choir (pounded between taiko hits): We are the echoes of Valhalla—HEY! We are the echoes of Valhalla—HEY! [Breakdown] Piano like breath on glass; cello holds the last light. I kneel in the hush of the snowfield, and forgive my frightened nights. I press my ear to the earth; it answers with distant drums. I whisper, “I am ready,” and the wind answers, “Come.” [Violin Solo] Instrumental Violin Solo: The fiddle cries, then fights—an ancient D minor lament that climbs into a torchlit vow, strings and low brass swelling beneath. [Final Chorus] I will walk the ice to the fire, with my stories in my scars. I will raise my shield to the newborn sun, set a blaze to the dark. If my breath turns smoke in the dawn, let it carry what I’ve won— not a plea, but a banner, not an end, but the roar I become. War-Choir (massive, beneath): We are the echoes of Valhalla. Lead (full belt): I’m not gone—I rise in the cry! War-Choir: We are the echoes of Valhalla. Lead: Burn my name in the timbered sky! War-Choir: We are the echoes of Valhalla. Lead: I am the drum and the marching line! War-Choir: We are the echoes of Valhalla. Lead: Shields up—meet me at the fireline! [Final Drop] Instrumental Final Drop: Violin leads the summit melody—fierce, bright over the storm—growling bass and taiko slam like thunder; electric guitar and low brass double the hook while the war-choir hammers the chant. War-Choir (call-and-battle-response under the fiddle): We are the echoes of Valhalla—HEY! We are the echoes of Valhalla—HEY! We are the echoes of Valhalla—HEY! [Outro] The wind keeps the last note; embers drift like slow stars. I leave my weight in the snow, and my voice in the wood of the spar. Somewhere, a horn fades—somewhere, a violin prays, and my footsteps turn to thunder that tomorrow will raise.
